What is Recovery?

Today we live in a technology driven, 24/7 on-call society. Whilst there have been many benefits associated with the rapid development of technology, this fast-paced lifestyle is starting to take its toll on both our physical and mental health.

A recent Sleep Health Foundation report estimated that a lack of sleep is costing the Australian economy $66 billion a year in health bills, lost productivity and wellbeing. In addition, one in five (20%) Australians experience a mental illness every year.

This is likely due to the fact that our ‘on switch’ or our sympathetic nervous system associated with our fight or flight response is in overdrive, whilst our ‘off switch’ or our parasympathetic nervous system associated with a rest and digest response is rarely given any love.

Regardless of your goals in life, if you don’t balance your level of life, work and training stress with quality recovery, then you’re more likely to fall short. The Recovery Room can help!

Check out the short video to find out what recovery is and why it so important for everything you do in life.

Training itself doesn’t get you fitter, faster, stronger, it’s the adaptations that occur during recovery that do.
