Should I use the Recovery Room?

Want to improve your performance/fitness, physical and mental health and/or sleep? Managing lymphoedema, arthritis or chronic pain? Recovering from an injury? If you answered yes to any of the above, then the Recovery Room is for you.

When should I use the Recovery Room?

If you’re looking to improve your performance/fitness, then ideally, as soon as possible after exercise, but you can also pay us a visit on a separate ‘recovery day’, particularly if you’re feeling tired and fatigued. The Recovery Room’s therapies are particularly beneficial during intense training and competition periods.

How often should I use the Recovery Room?

There’s no limit to how often The Recovery Room’s therapies can be used. However, if you have a specific goal you’re aiming for then check out our Recovery Programming service.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend wearing regular exercise gear for our dry area and bringing a large towel, swimmers and thongs for our wet area.

Is Normatec Compression Therapy safe?

Yes, but if you’re pregnant or have ever been diagnosed with heart condition, then please consult your doctor before using this.

Is Hot and Cold Water Therapy safe?

Yes, but you shouldn’t use this mode of recovery if you have any of the following contraindications;

  • Pregnant
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Open wounds
  • Hypersensitivity to cold
  • Elderly or very young

Are Infrared Saunas safe?

Yes, but you shouldn’t use this mode of recovery if you have any of the following contraindications;

  • Pregnant
  • Orthostatic hypotension
  • Rheumatoid arthritis in the acute inflammatory phase
  • Fever of any form
  • Claustrophobia and epilepsy
  • History of heart problems

Whilst adequately managed hypertension is not a contraindication, cold showers during or after sauna use should be avoided.
